Binary-Like Topology Optimization of Piezoelectric Metamaterial Plate with Interface Circuits Using Extended Plane Wave Expansion Method

Piezoelectric metamaterial plate (PMP) is being investigated for structural vibration energy harvesting (SVEH), in which an interface circuit often used. Thus, it a challenge to perform bandgap optimization of such elastic–electro–mechanical coupling system. This paper presents binary-like topology scheme by dividing the unit cell into identical pieces, where {0, 1} matrix optimized indicate material distribution. Firstly, unified motion equation derived elastic and piezoelectric patch, electromechanical model built self-powered synchronized charge extraction circuit. Then, extended plane wave expansion method presented character PMP with circuits (PMPICs), numerical solution dispersion curves based on Bloch theorem. Next, genetic algorithm applied PMPIC. In end, finite element simulations are performed validate proposed method. The results demonstrate that both structure can be simultaneously obtain maximum first-order at given central frequency. Therefore, should provide effective PMPIC broadband SVEH.
